It’s Math and It’s Pretty

The fine folks at WordPress (gotta love ‘em!) now allow math geeks like me to use our favorite math typesetting language, called LaTeX, to type math in our blogs!  Hooray!  I use LaTeX to create all of my teaching materials because it’s easy and the math looks exactly right.  Now, I can give you all math tests and quizzes and problems to work on here… (just kidding!)

Here’s an example of how pretty math looks in LaTeX:

\Large{\bf\frac{1}{2}x + 8 = 20}

Or if you prefer calculus:

\Huge{\int e^x\cos(x) dx}

Wheeeeee!

    Sandy,

    I laughed out loud at your excitement about being able to easily put math equations on your blog. But I can relate – I do a lot of technical papers in Word (I’m an engineer) and entering the equations can be very tedious.

    I only use calculus when I have to, but algebra is almost intuitive: x=24, and I did it in my head.

    Hello Katy’s Dad! 24 is the right answer. Very good. :)

    I would be an extremely crabby person if I had to use the equation editor in Word to create all my teaching materials!
